We planned to hire a skip to clean out the rubbish we had collected over the years. We were about to move out. We decided this last year to finally do it and now was the right time to move on.My mother was doing her theory test. She had dreamt about driving for years and was now really going for it. However I'd heard the theory test was the toughest part of passing your test.My mother said that the theory test was just part of the reality when it comes to driving.

You have to know your theory otherwise you won't be a good driver - and safety of yourself and others is always the most important thing. She said that she was determined because she wanted to drive down to our new place. My mother hated public transport. I think deep down we all did. She enjoyed the lessons. She said the lessons were like some kind of dream. She was behind the wheel. She was the one driving and she felt like she could do anything.I guess it's one of life's lessons, something we realize as time goes by.

I planned to drive down by bike because I was more a bike type of person. I still had my first bike with the little stabilizers on either side of the wheels. Now twenty years on, I was moving out and my girlfriend was joining me in our new apartment. She was pregnant and we were engaged so it all seemed to fit into place. It felt like the right thing to do and though it was sad to leave home - I knew it was something that could no longer be avoided.I shall miss my parents, mum especially as I was more like her then my father.

My mother would cry about anything, that's how wonderfully emotional she was. It was hard waving goodbye. I knew it wasn't the end but It felt like it. I shouted at her to drive safely and I would see her again soon enough. It felt strange to leave this place. My home was no longer my home or our home. It felt strange and apart of me was quite upset by it all.
